Description

Pear-shaped vase in turquoise blue enamelled sandstone, monogrammed "Massoul" under the base, circa 1900

The influence of ceramics from around the Mediterranean was exercised on Félix Massoul. His research focused on Hispano-Moorish luster techniques, Roman terracotta processes, Greek vases, the dazzling blues of Middle Eastern ceramics, and in particular, the turquoise of Egyptian sandy clays.
