Baccarat glass sculpture by Gilles CHABRIER

Translucent yellow baccarat glass sculpture, signed Gilles Chabrier and dated 2007. From his training as a glass engraver, Gilles Chabrier retains mastery of the technique of sandblasting. One of the interests of his work lies in the fact that he was able to reconcile technique, an industrial base material and artistic creation. His sculptures have the specialty of being the image of contrasts between direct cutting and sandblasting, hence the opposition of perfectly worked surfaces to raw surfaces that expose the material. However, these two techniques have in common to be the telltale of the artist's gesture, again contrasting, with on the one hand reflection and wisdom and on the other the snapshot, the urgency.
