Large orange glazed stoneware cup with hollow decoration, by Annie Fourmanoir ,year 1993 , unique piece , monogrammed AFG.
After literary studies at the Sorbonne during which I studied filmmaking with Paul Chaumeil, shortly before 1950, I set up my first earthenware workshop in the former studio of the painter Hélion. I then worked with the gallery La Crémaillère while making utilitarian objects for craft stores. In 1970 I created a new stoneware and porcelain workshop still in Paris, thanks to a gas oven. My work has naturally evolved into sculptural or decorative design objects modeled or turned. Since the beginning of my activity I have made my own glazes in earthenware, stoneware or porcelain, while using clays produced by the industry. At the same time I had a lot of interns who also became professionals. I have participated in many exhibitions in France and abroad.
Now I keep the same pleasure to create new works in this ancestral art that is ceramics.
