Ceramic box n°7, white enamel, unique piece dated 2006 signed Haguiko.
This handcrafted piece reveals the raw beauty of ceramic, subtly textured and enhanced by a delicately nuanced white glaze. The slight irregularities and natural imprints testify to the authenticity of the material's workmanship, giving this box a minimalist character and timeless elegance. An art object and collector's item, this Haguiko box embodies exceptional craftsmanship, ideal for a sober, refined setting in a contemporary, Zen or wabi-sabi interior.
With a degree in architectural engineering from Fukuoka University in Japan, ceramic artist Haguiko moved to France in 1972 to study at the École des Beaux-arts in Tours, where she was introduced to modelling clay for the first time. A vocation was born. She went on to train in contemporary ceramics in Jean-Pierre Viot's studio, and then in the raku technique with the American ceramist Paul Sodner. In her approach to ceramics, Haguiko considers the place and dimension of the work in space to be of paramount importance. She devotes herself exclusively to sculpture, producing only one-off pieces from clay, often inspired by cloud forms. In recognition of the excellence of her art, Haguiko has joined the International Academy of Ceramics.
