Cut blown glass vase from the "Harlequin" series, murrine pattern in several colours, unique piece, dated 2011 and signed.
Isabelle Périgot is dedicated to reinterpreting Murano glass, an emblematic craft. A rare Frenchwoman and especially a rare woman in this field, the artist is shaking up tradition by freeing herself from technical requirements to grant herself more freedom in forms and decorations.
The term murrine refers, in Italian, to multicolored glass rods, bearing a pattern inside, created and amalgamated while hot, then cut transversely into small sections.
After blowing, the pieces reveal an intricate geometric patchwork, highlighted by subtly arranged colors and an extremely tactile material. Fine and precise carving on the surface of the pieces occasionally adds rhythm to the composition, giving relief and substance to the material.
